| Stepping In to Help Kleintjie On the 8th of August, R.A.D (Rescued Animal Drive) was approached by a family whose dog, Kleintjie, had suffered a broken leg. The family was unable to afford the R4,000 vet bill, and unfortunately, R.A.D. didn’t have the funds to cover it either. The owners were told they would need to come up with the money or Kleintjie would be put to sleep. At the last minute, the family managed to raise R1,000. KDogsz couldn’t stand by and let Kleintjie be put to sleep for something as treatable as a broken leg, so we stepped in and offered to cover the remaining R3,000. Thanks to everyone’s efforts, Kleintjie had his operation and is now healing well. 🐾💙 We’re happy to have been able to help and give Kleintjie the chance he deserves. This is in the same area as Lady, and people can be pretty cruel. The family said she was outside, and they heard a yelp. She has a pretty “easy break” that can be wired. However, the cage rest part is always as expensive as the op, with just over R100 a day….and 3 weeks is probably the period. So we are probably looking at R4000 to R5000. At the last minute – we gave the family a 4:30 deadline, they called to say they’ve got R1 000, please save her. If we cannot help a family that is willing to make an effort and contribute, what is the point. We are really hoping that a few people will be able to chuck something in the kitty so that the load is not too heavy. There has been so many people who has taken advantage of our goodwill, promising to pay then just ignoring our requests and that is the main reason we are now limited to this point.
